Pull Up BAR FAQ’s
What diameter are the bars?
Our standard pull-up bars are 33.7mm in diameter, which is ideal for both adults and children. The sides of monkey bars are 48mm.
Are the bars strength tested?
Yes. All Xorbars are independently strength tested and designed for both adult and family use. They are weight tested to 200kg per bar.
Do the bars come with fixings?
Yes. All bars include the necessary coach screws and washers for installation.
Are the bars Powder Coated?
Yes. Powder Coated (Forest Green): Our most popular option, designed to blend naturally into your garden.
Are the bars suitable for children?
Yes. Our standard bars are suitable for both adults and children.
What bar length should I choose?
All bar lengths can be used for pull-ups and bodyweight exercises. The best choice depends on your available space and budget.
Wooden posts FAQ’s
What size posts do you use?
DIY kits are available with either 100mm x 100mm or 150mm x 150mm pressure-treated timber posts.
How long will the posts last?
Our pressure-treated posts include Postsavers to help protect against ground-level rot and maximise lifespan. Your posts will be registered with Postsaver, so if installed correctly will carry a 20 year guarantee.
Do the bars come with fixings?
Yes. All bars include the necessary coach screws and washers for installation.
Will the timber crack?
Whilst we use the best sources of timber available to us, the posts we provide may have visible checks already, and cracking/checking can naturally occur over time. This can be especially prevalent during the hot summer months. Remember – wood is a natural product and will split.
Can I source my own timber?
Yes. We also sell bars separately if you’d prefer to buy posts locally. The aim of the kits is to make it as quick and as easy as possible for you to get your gym installed.
Do I have to do anything to the timber before installing?
To achieve the same finished look as our installed kits, we recommend lightly sanding the edges (or using a router to bevel the edge), followed by lightly sanding the faces of the posts above ground level.
Once sanded, apply a suitable finishing product, such as Barrettine Wood Preserver, to give the posts a clean, finished appearance. This is exactly the processes we use when installing.

Are children covered under your insurance?
Yes. Our public liability insurance covers installations used by both adults and children. Children should always be supervised while using the equipment.
