Post Quality & Installation Guidance
The posts included are the same durable, high-quality timber we’ve used in professional installations for over 10 years — strong, long-lasting, and built to perform. All timber is pressure-treated and sourced as used in professional landscaping and fencing, giving you reliable, structural posts for your DIY gym.
As a guide, allow around 90 minutes per post for installation. For example, an 8-post gym will typically take around 12 hours to install.
Recommended installation order:
- Dig holes
- Apply Postsavers to posts (to activate a 20-year warranty on posts)*
- Lightly sand edges for a smoother finish
- Set posts
- Install bars
- Apply protective oil coating (this is to give a great finish)
The posts are fully treated, but applying a coat of oil will enhance the overall finish. We recommend Barrettine Wood Protective Treatment for best results.

Please ensure you are happy with the post size you order. While we accept returns, delivery costs are the responsibility of the customer and can be significant.

My Xorbars Wooden Posts
You have two options regarding the posts.
We offer two post sizes to suit all users. Either option works for adults and children. That means you can put the bars at up to 2.4m (ideal adult height) OR cut the posts / dig a deeper hole and you can reduce that height to suit any size of person or child.
SO REMEMBER: The great thing about wood is that you can cut the post to reduce the overall height to suit your needs.
INCLUDED: Standard Posts
These are 12ft × 4×4inch (3.6 m × 100×100 mm)
- Pressure Treated: BS8417 Standard UC4 (for use in the ground)
- Postsavers included for added protection & longer lifespan (need to be applied)
- Post Length = 3.6m
- Thickness =100mm
- Maximum Bar Height: 2.7 m from the ground
- Installed at 700 mm depth → bar height = 2.7 m (trim post to reduce height)
- Adjustable on installation day to suit users from 4 ft – 7 ft tall

These are 10ft × 6×6inch (3.0 m × 150×150 mm) Heavy-Duty

Make Your Posts Look Great
Our pine posts come as rough-sawn timber — the same high-grade material used for all professional Xorbars installations.
To achieve a smooth, premium finish:
- Sand or router the above-ground edges (we router to 5 mm)
- Sand all four sides (takes about 5 minutes per post)
- Apply a wood preservative, oil, or paint for a beautiful finish

We start processing all orders within 24 hours and will keep you updated. Orders with made-to-order parts may take a little longer to prepare before dispatch. MENTAL NOTE: We often deliver in multiple shipments.

Multiple Deliveries
- DIY Kits are made up of separate deliveries. Between 3 and 5
- Bars may arrive before posts, or vice versa — this is normal.
- We’ll contact you within 48 hours (Mon–Fri) with delivery details and updates.
- Standard delivery is to UK mainland.
- For locations outside the UK mainland, please get in touch — we can often arrange delivery or alternative options (e.g., bars only).
- Bars & fixings: Usually require a signature. If no one is home, the courier will attempt delivery up to three times or leave a card so you can arrange a safe-place drop-off.
- Posts: Delivered separately. You don’t need to be home, but leaving clear instructions for the driver is recommended. Drivers cannot enter the rear of properties and may require vehicle access for large lorries.
- Items such as postsavers, gymnastic rings, ropes, and swing attachments may arrive separately.
- Please wait until all items arrive and are checked before booking installation.
- Report any damaged or missing items within 48 hours so we can arrange replacements or refunds.
- Tracking details will be provided where available.
- Some larger or specialist deliveries may not have real-time tracking, but we’ll keep you updated throughout.
- Please check your items carefully. You MUST contact us within 48hrs if items are damaged or missing.
